This International Women's Connection (IWC) website has been designed to serve as a resource to those who are reaching out to international women in Christ's love. It is provided to you by International Students, Inc., the oldest U.S.-based organization focusing exclusively on sharing Christ's love with international students both in the U.S. and abroad. Our staff, Ministry Representatives, and volunteers serve in over 280 locations in the U.S., as well as in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, New Zealand, Singapore, and South Africa—and partner with ministries serving in those locations and dozens of other locations worldwide.

Iris was only here for a one-month specialized training program, but God brought Christian women into her life. She attended Bible studies and her desire to know God grew. Fearing that she didn’t know any Christians in China, she was hesitant to trust Christ. Our staff and volunteers committed to pray that God would meet this need. She trusted Christ, and when she returned home, she met Christians in her office AND in a class she was taking! She quickly found a church and a Bible study in her office. She is now sharing with her parents, and at least her mom is opening spiritually.
One staff member shares that, every Thursday, women meet from all over the world for IWC. This year alone, there have been women from Japan, China, Taiwan, Korea, Pakistan, Egypt, Ukraine, India, Nepal, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Russia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam in their group. The first hour they practice English, then break, and in the second hour offer cooking classes, tips for adjusting to US, or discussion times on biblical topics. For most, this is their first opportunity to receive and read the Bible in their own language. These women are also given the opportunity to be matched one on one with an American friend.
,After helping a staff member lead a Bible study, and then teaching it after the staff member moved, a retired volunteer in the Midwest became increasingly involved with internationals, students and their spouses, who were in the Bible study and many more who were not. Here’s what she says:
“God has opened doors of which I never would have imagined with students, faculty, and their wives. He has given my retirement years a joyful experience with a God-ordained purpose. I look forward to teaching the Bible with English lessons during the week and on Sunday. The Chinese Bible class on Sundays currently has about five regulars who ask thought-provoking questions as they seek to know God and want to be sure of more truth before committing their lives to the Savior. I cannot imagine a more joyful retirement.”

Carine came from a Buddhist background and is married to a man from a Muslim background. She became involved with other wives in a local ministry and a Friendship Partner ™ family. Carine knew nothing about Christianity, and when Easter arrived she asked, “Is Easter a religious holiday or does it have religious significance?” Truth was shared with her in many ways, but it wasn't until she had a son that she began to ask serious questions. A volunteer studied the Gospel of John with her and gave her a Jesus DVD. Carine and her husband both trusted Christ and dedicated their young son to the Lord.
Not long ago, a recently-widowed Christian was recruited to minister alongside current volunteers. She is finding much joy and purpose in being a friend to international women, and has much time to devote to helping a visiting scholar and her fifth-grade son. Unfortunately, while her ailing husband was living, she would not have had so much time to help them. Now she has found new joy and purpose in this ministry.
Sarah serves international student wives at a leading business school, having them in her home, helping them with their English, loving their children, and bridging their transition to American life. Recently, a Japanese wife, who had been to Sarah’s home for several weeks, asked a staff member why Sarah would do this for her. Was it because of God? Our staff member was able to share that it was because of Sarah’s love for Jesus Christ that Sarah had love for her and a desire to help her in her life here.
